Recipe of The Week – Skinny Chow Mein – (287 Calories Per Serving)

  • 175g of Egg Noodles
  • 1 tbsp of Sunflower Oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 175g of Raw Bean Sprouts
  • 175g of Mange Tout
  • 225g of Chicken Breast
  • 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce
  • 10g of Ginger
  • 5g of Sharwoods Five Spice Powder


  • Preheat the oven to 190c
  • Put a piece of foil onto a baking sheet (approx 30cm x 40cm) & brush with one tbsp of oil
  • Place the chicken breasts side by side in the centre of the foil & sprinkle with 30ml of water & close the foil around the chicken to make a loose but tightly closed parcel
  • Bake the chicken in the oven for 30-35 mins until cooked though…remove chicken from oven & allow to cook before shredding.
  • Thinly slice onion, garlic, ginger and top & tail Mange Tout
  • Cook noodles in large pan of boiling water according to pack instructions
  • In the meantime heat the remaining oil in a wok & stir fry the onion & ginger over a high heat for about 2-3 mins until onion is softened
  • Add garlic, mange tout and five spice powder
  • Continue to stir fry for 1 min more
  • Drain the noodles well and add to the wok
  • Add shredded chicken & soy sauce
  • Stir fry for a further 2 mins.
  • Serve
